Microsoft recommends installing 32-bit Office 2010 rather than 64-bit
In the Office 2010 technical support for the project Frequently Asked Questions, Microsoft recommends users to install the 32-bit Office 2010 rather than 64-bit version, because there are will many plug-in compatibility issues after the upgrade to 64-bit Office 2010.
Microsoft claimed: "Whether the 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems, we strongly recommend most users to install the 32-bit Office 2010 rather than the 64-bit version, because after the upgrade there will be Office plug-in unavailable in the 64-bit version. Office 2010 64-bit version is much better for those who frequently use a large number of files or data sets and need access to Excel 2010 chart of the users. "
"There are some little technical problems in the 64-bit versions, in order to install the 64-bit Office 2010, users must install the 64-bit operating system in their PC."
So if your want to upgrade your Office to the latest 2010 version, do as the Microsoft recommendation installing the Office 2010 32-bit version.
